Round 1 Midwest Masters Morawa

The WA Pro Modified Racing Inc drivers descended on Morawa Speedway on Saturday, 11th October, bringing a full night of high-powered, dirt-slinging action. With perfect weather and a well-prepared surface, fans were treated to an exciting display of skill, horsepower, and determination as drivers pushed their machines to the limit around the fast Morawa clay.
The Pro Modified division once again showcasedwheel-to-wheel racing even with low numbers of drivers for the night.
Heat Racing
Heat 1:
The opening heat set the tone for the night, with Luke Mateljan taking a commanding win, having a fast car all night.
Heat 2:
Brad Ludlow responded in the second heat, charging through the field to claim victory. Ludlow’s car looked quick and well-balanced, giving him momentum heading into the feature race.
Feature Race
When the green flag dropped for the feature race, the crowd knew they were in for something special. Early on, Brad Ludlow stormed into the lead, looking dominant — until an electrical cut-out cruelly ended his run while he was out front.
Not long after, Ben Ludlow was locked in a thrilling battle for the lead with Luke Mateljan, but his charge came undone when a fuel pump failure forced him out of contention.
The misfortune of others opened the door for Luke Mateljan, who maintained composure under pressure and drove a clean, consistent race to claim the Feature Race Win.
Behind him, Dylan Prince kept pushing hard, fending off strong competition to finish second, while Craig Watkins capitalized on others’ troubles to secure a well-earned third place.
A key moment late in the race saw Jack Wright spin while dicing with Dylan Prince for third at the time — a tough break after showing good pace throughout the night.
Final Results
Feature Race Top 3:
🥇 1st – Luke Mateljan

Despite a few mechanical heartbreaks and on-track drama, the night at Morawa Speedway was another fantastic showcase for WA Pro Modified Racing Inc. The close racing, unpredictable twists, and standout performances highlighted why this class continues to grow in popularity across Western Australia.
Congratulations to all the drivers, crews, and supporters who made the journey to Morawa — and especially to Luke Mateljan, who walked away with two wins and plenty of momentum heading into Round 2 at Margaret River Speedway Sunday 26th October.
